The Manifesto of the Communists

Karl Marx, Friedrich EngelsPublished by International Publishing Company: London, 1886.

The Communist Manifesto is a foundational text of communist theory, co-authored by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. It outlines the principles of communism and argues for the overthrow of capitalist societies in favor of a classless, stateless system. The manifesto discusses the history of class struggles, the problems of capitalist economies, and the vision for a new socialist society. It is a call to action for workers of the world to unite and challenge the existing economic and social structures.

The Communist Manifesto has faced bans and censorship in various countries due to its radical political content and its challenge to capitalist and bourgeois structures. It has been banned in authoritarian regimes and conservative states that view it as a threat to political stability and economic systems. The manifesto’s revolutionary ideas and its call for class struggle have led to its suppression in many contexts where its principles are seen as subversive or dangerous. Despite this, it remains a significant and influential work in political theory and history.

-The publisher, the International Publishing Company, was owned by the English secularist and individualist anarchist Henry Seymour (1860-1938), editor of The Anarchist: A Revolutionary Review.
